A Korean university has conducted an study where unknown concentration of microplastics in edible salt were found and suggest that this could be even higher than thought. Of 45 table salt brands sampled worldwide, 42 of them contained microplastics in them.
"As scientists predicted, the excessive use of plastics over the last decades is turning against us"
Microplastics can now found everywhere, and even in table sea salt. Although their exact effects are still unclear, these tiny plastic particles are harmful to both, the environment and human health.
Hopefully this study will help scientists produce better data when measuring microplastics and raise awareness about the pollutants we regularly emit into the environment that eventually end up in our bodies.
